Hydraulic lifts use a pump, valve system and cylinder to move the car. Symptoms such as poor levelling, oil leakage or slow operation require diagnosis rather than an assumed component replacement. TLS supports hydraulic lift maintenance and repairs; share the symptoms and available service history when you enquire.

Leaks and hydraulic equipment

Oil may escape from seals, hoses, pipework or other connections. Identifying the source and assessing the equipment's condition comes before selecting a repair. Do not touch leaking equipment, attempt valve adjustments or enter restricted lift spaces.

Levelling, temperature and intermittent faults

Re-levelling, slow travel or faults after repeated use can have different causes. Report when the symptom appears, whether it varies during the day and any visible indication. Oil condition, temperature, control signals and mechanical condition may all be relevant to investigation.

Repair scope and replacement options

Depending on findings, work may involve hydraulic seals, valves, pump equipment or associated controls. Compatibility, component availability and the condition of retained equipment affect the proposal. A wider modernisation review may be useful when repeated repairs no longer address the underlying problem.

Safe reporting and return to service

Keep people away from a spill or damaged equipment and contact the responsible building manager. For entrapment, use the emergency telephone route. Do not attempt manual lowering or passenger release. Testing and an appropriate return-to-service decision belong to competent personnel.

Common questions

Does an oil leak always mean the ram needs replacement?

No. A leak needs investigation to identify its source. Do not assume a major cylinder replacement before diagnosis.

Can an older hydraulic lift be modernised?

Potentially. Condition, available parts, intended use and compatibility determine whether targeted upgrades or replacement are appropriate.
